The Maiden's WIPocalypse List

Finally, my WIPocalypse 2012 list is done! There were many more I wanted to add, so hopefully I will make it through all of these and more (I start working again on Jan 8th, so my progress will slow).

1. La Clef by Nimue

I fell in love with this chart the moment I saw it, and am awaiting it's arrival from France. This will be my primary project for 2012.

2. Venetian Opulence by Mirabilia

The second largest project I have added, while the remainder is daunting, I must have her hanging in my home!

3. Mermaids of the Deep Blue by Mirabilia

I had hoped to have this finished by New Year's, but I was distracted by holiday stitching, so it made the list.

4. Lilac by Nora C.

This is so close to being done I felt it would be a good one for the list. My goal is to get my WIPs to a more manageable state!

5. The Garden Ornament by Handwork Samplers

This is a gift I have been promising the Crone for 2 years now, so it must get done. The project is very close, but 36ct over one has proved very challenging!

6. Love Letter by Full Circle

The Crone found this for me in Reno while visiting the Mother, and I knew it was for me the moment I saw it. I started it last night, so technically it is a WIP (he he).

7. Skull Banner by AAN

Wait until you see my fabric... With so many Halloween projects in my stash one had to make it onto the list! I started this at my LNS months ago, but it has sat neglected.

Progress...Finally

Nothing like a severe case of insomnia to encourage cross stitching. I have finally made it through the fan (it was killing me). I also included a picture of Crone and Grandbaby #2...It's just a great picture! The Mother

Gift of Hope

The Crone's Christmas gift is complete! True to my nature I procrastinated working on this until the very last minute (I received the Crone's WIP on Thanksgiving, when the idea occurred to us to have me stitch the 2 Maidens, the one aspect that had stalled the Crone's progress). Over the past two days I have been cozied up on the Crone's couch, watching holiday movies (like my favorites "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" and "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir") and spending an astounding 20 hours finishing up the second maiden in a marathon of stitching. The conversation and hot chocolate made it all the better.

Happy Holidays,

The Maiden

Red Skies At Night

We, the Crone and the Maiden, are incredibly excited about joining Measi and hundreds of others who will be participating in the WIPocalypse. Since two of the three of us will be joining (3 blogging buddies, one blog), we weren't sure how to emphasize that when joining...but you will see the two different lists we have for our year of stitching for 2012. We really like the rules of knowing you can change your list, just incase we get farther ahead (or behind) from where we begin. I am putting my update of Red Skies at Night by Mirabilia as my first WIP for the 2012 line-up. I am going to choose six projects (thought of twelve, but thought I will go for one project with two-months each theme)...but of course that could potentially change.

My WIPocalypse list:
1. Red Skies at Night-Mirabilia

2. Tree of Hope-Mirabilia

3. Magnolia- Mirabilia

4. Act Justly (La D Da)-will change the words to "Blackbird Singing in the Dead of Night"

5. Bird of Paradise-Courtney Collection

6. Birds of a Feather-Blackbird Designs (this is truly the one project I would wish to have in my collection and done prior to the potential Big Bang of 2012)
and the newest addition to the list:

7. Violet- Mirabilia

By the way Measi-I am a Reiki Master, and we totally have the same taste in music. Can't wait to see how this year progresses for everyone. The Crone

IHSW A Tail of Two Cities

I cannot believe it is the last IHWS of 2011, where has the year gone? I managed to get the tail of the second mermaid done, the end is in sight! Only the bottom 2 fins left, but they will have to wait while I try to finish the Crone's Christmas present (look for a post at the end of the month).

The Crone is with the Mother in Carson and I miss you both! Happy Holiday's Ren! Hopefully the Crone can convince the Mother to pick up Venetian...

Red Skies At Night ...the Crone

Julie found this great Mirabilia design in the book and sent it to the Maiden, who of course, sent it on to me. It is so me.... I have been working on this for about a week or so, and thought-hell, I might as well post. I really like this. The colors need to be updated, because the dye lots have changed and it makes it almost impossible to find the waves (changed the DMC for a darker contrast). Anyway..thought I would share.

2 Heads are Better than One

As promised here is my update of MoDB. I am not sure if I will be able to finish by the new year, but that is the goal! The picture does nothing for the kreinik's, but I will make sure the final ones do. On to tail next, that always goes much quicker for me. The Maiden

Holiday Stitching Cheer!!!

I decided despite my recession impacted bah humbug mood I needed to put out my Christmas decorations. These were gifts from The Crone last year, as a tradition she finds/makes gifts with my name on them. Happy Holidays! The Maiden

Don't worry MoDB will be up next!

Maiden's Venetian

I have been meaning to post this for a while...

A new friend in my stitching circle took one look at my Venetian and started her the next day. She is a beginner, but learning fast! I hope to return to Venetian in the new year, once MoDB is finished. I am so excited to see some of the blues and greens come into the dress! The Maiden.

Day Nymph

This is the one I will probably give as a Christmas gift since it is already complete. Thought I might add a few more WIP's, but just depends on how far I can get today. The Crone
Second picture more accurate on color.

Night Nymph-Mirabillia

Thought I should probably get Night Nymph and Day Nymph posted before they become a Christmas present for someone. Since Day Nymph is already framed that will probably get thrown in a Christmas White Elephant...not sure yet. The Crone

Happy Thanksgiving

Just a quick update on Lilac by Nora, I have discovered if I stitch one flower at a time this project may not become a UFO (UnFinished Object). She will go away for a while until I am finished with the Crone's Christmas gift. I am still plugging away on my Mermaids and hope to have them done by January.

Happy Thanksgiving to all! I am very grateful to have family to share my stitching with! The Maiden

IHSW Mermaid Madness

This weekend was perfect for hermitting! The weather has just turned cold and the sky was full of dark clouds, so with a cup of tea in one hand and needle in the other I worked on Mermaids of the Deep Blue by Mirabilia.

Some have asked where Mirabilia color conversions can be found. The most extensive collection I have found is on the Mirabilia Yuku bulletin board, here is a link:

Mermaids of the Deep Blue

Juls has convinced me to participate in a stitch along for Mirabilia's Mermaids of the Deep Blue (she is doing a color conversion). I had the project in my stash of WIPs (big surprise) so I thought it would be fun to do! Here is what the project looked like when I picked it up 10 days ago, only a bit of hair.

And here is my progress! I must admit I was motivated by Joysze and her amazing finish! I decided to keep the original charted colors so that the mermaids will match Atlantis perfectly.

Mother- the frog hat is adorable, loved your post! The Maiden

A little crochet

I am alive and well- I wanted to prove I haven't been a total slug, although I haven't done a whole lot of cross stitching as of late. I did manage to sneak in a baby blanket and a pretty sweet ear flap frog hat for my friends baby shower. It is much easier to drag along yarn in a bag to baseball and hockey practice and games. I miss you and love you!!!!

Venetian Opulence

I have been a little frustrated with my WIPs lately. I have over 20 going (mostly Mirabilia's) and none are any where near finishing. Venetian Opulence is visually stunning, and perhaps the closest to a finish. I just wish it was not solid for the second half! The maiden.

Mothers Arms

Mother's Arms by Mirabilia (I am sensing a pattern) also got some attention. I spent the entire day on this one while at Julie's house for a stitch in. The Maiden

Just keep swimming

Unemployment has been amazing for my crosstitch! While I am indulging during my off time, I am finding it difficult to stick to one project...

IHSW and Stitchers Retreat

Wow, what a great stitchy weekend! For Friday and Saturday I worked on the Crone's Birthday present (36ct over one, never again!) and then it was off to the Stitchers retreat- a full day of stitching, food and AMAZING projects. I left very inspired and with the Crones help have made some new friends (you may see embroidery and 40ct silk gauze in our future).

Enchanted Mermaid by Mirabilia somehow made it into my bag as a back up and it turned out to be all I worked on! I had completed the face last year, which is even larger than the one on Venetian, but have not touched it since. As soon as the green Krenic made it into the leaves I was hooked! My only fear is the beads, 38 packages!

Stitchers Retreat anyone?

This Sunday is the Las Vegas Stitcher's Retreat and the Crone and I will be there with projects in hand! I love getting together with other stitchers and seeing all the different projects, I usually walk away with several new must have projects in mind!

Luckily, it is also hermit and stitch weekend! I have a feeling this will be my best Hermit attempt ever! The Maiden

Trick or Treat Fairy Finished!!!

My beading nightmare is complete! I am really excited about my latest addition to my Halloween collection, but there is no time to waste. Up next is Masquerade by Ink Circles (no beading on this one! Giggle). The Maiden

IHSW

I tried so hard to finish... so close, but with all the bridal shower planning this weekend (for my sister) I could only devote a few hours to Trick or Treat Fairy. The beads on this are outrageous, my next project may be sans beads after this! Hopefully I can post a finish later this week.

I did manage a little progress on Sleeping Beauty. The urn in the corner is now complete! I should be able to start on the dress tomorrow, so exciting to see this come to life after so many years in the dark! The Maiden

IHSW

Yeah another weekend of Hermit and Stitch! I really do look forward to this all Month! The plan is to finish my Trick or treat fairy (only beading and backstitching to go!). Hopefully I will have some time to devote to Sleeping Beauty as well...

In went to my LNS shop last night for our first Thur. after work stitch in, so much fun! Juls was there (taunting me with her Sleeping Beauty) and so was our newest stitchy friend Megan. Stitching and Greek food, what more could you want?

Sleeping Beauty

This past Monday I finally had a day off from Clinic and joined Juls at her house for a stitch in. It was like being in a candy store our stitching appetites are so similar! She pulled out a few WIPs to show me and I fell in love with Mirabilia's Sleeping beauty all over again. I immediately went home and pulled her our from the recesses of my closet. As I fell into the easy rhythm of stitching I realized she had never been posted, with shock I realized I have not worked on this project since before we started the blog (2009)! Long overdo for some attention, I post my "before." The Maiden

IHSW Trick or Treat Fairy

I cannot believe this is my 3rd Hermit and Stitch weekend! I am starting to get the Halloween bug, and may have purchased several new charts from my LNS market run last week, so I decided to work on Trick or Treat Fairy by Mirabilia. Hopefully I can finish by Halloween, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel on this one (always motivating!). Note: I have no idea why she is headless, but it humors me none the less! A Fragile Beauty

It was a rare rainy day in Las Vegas 2 weeks ago when I pulled into the cross stitch store for a piece of Lugana. I had been feeling poorly (stress, flu, work drama) and decided to be a little indulgent and start another HAED. I bought a piece of 28ct Lugana "Little bo peep" and headed home to stitch to my hearts content with only one rule: tent stitch or not at all.

Many know my struggles with tent stitching, but I told myself I could not have this pattern unless I tent stitched it. So with my needle threaded with 2 strands of DMC I began, and hated it. However, I pushed through, driven by my rule and after several hours I figured out how to get the look I so desired: a snap frame and tight, tight tension.

So after 11 days of stitching I present page one! The Maiden

Bird of Paradise 11-Courtney Collection

Didn't want you to think I haven't been stitching all along. This is a new start (have about 4 sittings in on this one). I was hoping to have done by the time I go back to work (school) in August..but we shall see. I have started a couple more besides, but those will have to wait. As soon as I get back some that are at the framers I will have quite a few to post. The Crone

Most outragous quilt of all "Wild Flowers"

Took two summer vacations just to cut out all the pieces. My friend's mother has the big Bernina that does the embroidery so that was a blast to get to play with. This will hang on my bedroom wall (too many puppies sleep on my bed for it to EVER end up there). Since I didn't put up the five quilts I made for Xmas this year..thought I should get these on before I gave them away or something silly like that.
