Concerning Charting

Years ago, when I first discovered HAED, the issue of charting presented itself. It was believed that certain retailers charts stitched up better than others. With an established retailer, like HAED you simply had to "trust in the charting" and know that the odd color you were adding would blend in the end.

I became concerned when the sky was not coming together as I hoped. Why was there all this green, where are the easy transitions and effortless blending? Having no time to waste on a project I would be unhappy with, I jumped to her face.

I cannot say I am happy with the result, I realized these are meant to be viewed from afar, so I took this shot... I think I may need to sleep on this, and pause my work until I reach a decision as to proceed or not. The Maiden

Mail Call From China!

Above is my second Diamond Painting Kit, ordered from AliExpress. I am very. Curious to see how the image turns out! It is 40cm x 40cm (which is roughly 16 inches x 16 inches), so it is much larger than my first project. This is a Full Diamond Painting, meaning the entire image is composed of small resin Square Beads (as opposed to the circular beads).

Here is my progress after 100 minutes, I started at the upper left and stopped at the halfway point.

The kit arrives in a long square box, the canvas is rolled and stuffed inside are the beads and key. I really should have been unpacking the last of my things after a trying move, or studying for my Real Estate Exam, but all I wanted to do was get started on this one!

I also order this amazing bead organizer on Amazon, it has 78 slots- more than enough if I decide to take on a HAED using this technique! (I do have 2 other kits I wanted to complete first, one is already on it's way from China!). My back and neck are really sore this evening, but I am hoping I will feel better by morning and up for more crafting!

A Short Stroll

Here is the progess on my Diamond Painting after 3 hours of work, I will have a finish a mere 24 hours after receiving the kit!

My stitching assistant Toby, all that fur and a sticky canvas spells disaster!

Let's Take a Stroll

It looks like cross stitch... but that sparkle?
Recently I have discovered "Diamond Painting" a technique using cross stitch patterns, an adhesive canvas, and small resin beads to form an image. I fell in love with the idea when I saw That Girl that Stitches begin a Heaven and Earth design using this technique and after losing a weekend to "Flosstube" I ordered my first kit!

The kits ship from China and take a frustratingly long time to arrive, but I thought this was a cheap way to try the craft without jumping right into a HAED. This is called a partial diamond painting, for the canvas behind the main image is printed and will not be covered with beads. The beads come in circles (this project) or squares, and correspond to every color of DMC offered!

I completed the umbrella in under an hour (this technique being much faster than cross stitch) and will continue to post as progress is made.
