Ouch!

Quick update on Mirabilia's The Kiss, there is so much more to stitch than I thought! It is hard to remain focused when your first Chatelaine wants attention!

Stitching with #8 kreinik is like trying to stitch with barb wire! The Maiden

Surprising Find

While hunting for supplies to send the Crone I stumbled across a long forgotten project by the Cricket Collection.
A sense of sadness overcame me, how could I have forgotten a project so thoughtfully kitted?
All is not lost, for this project may have found me just when I needed it most!

Stitching Board

I have a serious case of startitist, and in my fevered state have started 2 Chatelaines! Before the infection I choose The Kiss as my next focus piece, being my oldest Mirabilia (I cannot believe I have 17 started!)
I went through 2 spools of Kreinik! The dress is my new favorite, the sparkle alone!
2 days, 2 spools of kreinik, and over 2000 stitches!
My family and friends know that I am stitching my Inspiration Board, and when my sister saw my "house" cross stitch, she texted me the above response. You heard her Universe!

A Stitcher's Start

This was my first completed cross stitch, a gift I made for my mother at 16 (I believe there may have been a cat cross stitch where a line of felines were meowing at the moon, but I was 10 and it is long gone!). Watching flosstube tutorials for my Chatelaine prompted me to tell my origin story, as so many do, and low and behold I discovered specialty stitches!

A little bump of confidence is exactly what I needed for my first Mandala!

Dual Finishes!

It is a Maiden Mother Crone first, 2 finishes in 1 day!

Started on August 28th, 2009 and abandoned after 7 days, I have finally finished Tall Seasons by the Sunflower Seed. Stitched on 32 ODL "Legacy."
Here is a close up of the final house, Winter. All DMCs were converted to silks, with the exception of this house where Gentle Art's Peacock was used.

The Mother also completed this stitch in 2 days! She is already on to "Spooky" and I cannot wait to see the triptych completed!

Up in the Clouds

While I was praising the Mother as my inspiration to finish a project before I start another, she was well on her way to breaking her own guideline! (I secretly love that she did, for I was just looking at this designer yesterday!) Here is her new start Happy Spooky Halloween by clouds Factory, stitched on "tropical" Opal Lugana.

Stitches for Everyone!

Happy World Cross Stitch Day to all stitchers near and far, I hope your needles were threaded and frogs far away!
I am determined to finish Tall Seasons before starting the Chatelaine I just kitted up yesterday, and finished my goal for the day, the final tree! The pouring rain provided the perfect backdrop for tonight's stitching.

The Mother was in town for work this week and brought Damask Roses at my suggestion that we resume our SAL, but she is much further than I remembered so I may need a head start!

The one over one skin on Ms. Freedom is time consuming, but well worth the final product!

While we did not throw a single stitch we were able to go to Stitcher's Paradise where she helped me choose fabric for my first Chatelaine! For World Cross Stitch Day I treated myself to a half a yard of divine fabric, delicate silks and delicious treasure braids, now if I can only develop the courage to start it! The Maiden

Due Case

Can you tell I am studying Italian?
Summer has joined the fray, it won't be long until all the seasons are complete!

It has been so long since I have stitched anything, that every WIP feels like a new start, carrying with it all the excitement and novelty it had the first time around.

Una Casa

Many, many years ago I began this project by The Sunflower Seed. It is in fact, one of the earliest to appear on this blog. It was abandoned like so many other UFOs, until I came across it a week ago and realized it was the spitting image of my dream Home.

The Crone and I often talked late into the night of the significance of the projects we choose (usually with a cup of Tevana in hand), how they represent the "tapestry of life." Now that I can see the purpose behind this project so many years later it is time to finish it, and hopefully bring into reality not only this house but a project for it's walls!

When I was a young stitcher I went through a silk phase, and in my insanity converted all the DMC in this project to Splendor's. I cringed when I found the receipt for this purchase folded at the bottom of a bag, an astounding $185.00 was spent on a project I worked on for 7 days!

Despite the expense, I adore this project for the balance it holds and loved adding the N-S-E-W to the bottom.

The Summer home has joined Fall, only 2 more houses to go!
