Maynia 10- May 28, 2021

My last Maynia start caught me with the first stitch and would not let go, and rather than anger the cross stitch Gods I sacrificed my last planned start to work on Mirabilia's Ophelia for one more day.

I was able to stitch 10 of the 12 projects I had planned for Maynia this year (an injury to my stitching thumb forced a 2 day healing hiatus) and am pleased with the progress I was able to make on each of these exciting new stitches! Ophelia will hold my attention for a while longer and then I wonder where my needle will take me?

Maynia 9- May 26, 2021

Just a tiny shock of red hair for this Maynia start

I was really impressed with the kit, all the DMC was separated so nicely, the chart symbols are large and easily read, and the directions were translated into English, it is a dream to work with!

Maynia 8- May 22, 2021

My sister once scolded me for my approach to dating, stating that Prince Charming was not going to find me on my couch cross stitching- this stitch is my reply!

I will end the saying after "In a perfect world you would find me here."

Maynia 7- May 2o, 2021

My 7th Maynia start is a SAL with Nessa, who I have seen twice in as many months! We devised this SAL over brunch at a local tea shop and I knew just the fabric I would use for our project bags!

Stitched on 32ct (I can feel the difference physically still, which is a shame) iridescent Angel's Breath with a thread conversion from Stitcher's Paradise.

Maynia 6- May 18, 2021

Began on May 18th, I may have let this one bleed into my next Maynia start to accomplish my goal of completing the "O" in October...

This pumpkin was never ending and I was surprised and dismayed by how many colors this chart calls for! With a massive DMC collection I opted to pull similar colors from stash and could not be happier with the results!

Maynia 5- May 16, 2021

Artwork by Nene Thomas has previously only been leased to Heaven and Earth Designs, and while I own almost all of her charts, I have only started one (with little hope of a finish). I was beyond ecstatic when I found her artwork in a Dimensions Gold kit! I purchased it immediately and the second it arrived I put needle to fabric for my 5th Maynia start!

Somewhere around the 2021 stitch I had to set her aside, as there were other projects to start and she had already usurped one!

I love how my new Betta fish Syn compliments her so nicely! A resurrection of an old hobby was inspired by a flosstuber of all things, Lina's Stitch Life!

Maynia 4- May 14, 2021

I have big plans for Calluna Brightburn's Catalogue for Witches Familiars that begin with individually stitching each familiar.

With only a handful of colors called for in this pattern I was floored at how they pop right off this piece of 28ct Murky! I am glad I secured a piece, as I understand there is now a shortage and 6 month wait!

Started May 16th (I am a bit behind on posting and am distracted by my new instagram account @stitchingmaiden)

Maynia 3- May 12, 2021

My 3rd Maynia start fell on a Dark 13 stitching day, so it had to have a spooky air! Night Nymph by Nora Corbett fit the bill, as the chart has always reminded me of Crimson Peak!

I did get distracted by making project bags over the past few days, I needed something to house all these new starts and I had just the Tula fabric for the job in my Stash!

Maynia 2- May 10, 2021

I was blown away by my progress on this one in 2 days and I attribute the excitement of Maynia as my motivator!

This will eventually be stitched twice, as this song has meaning for multiple households in the family.

Maynia 1- May 8, 2021

The fourth in a Series that will adorn the Crone's walls is my first start for Maynia 2021, Frida by Barbara Ana Designs.

2 days were devoted to this project and I made significantly more progress than I thought I would! What is it about giving eyes to a project that makes you feel as if you are being watched? Hahaha! The Maiden

A Mother's Day Finish

Began on April 26, 2021 I present Are you My Mother by Bent Creek.

Re-Stitched in 3 days for the Crone on 28ct Highland using Gentle Arts Raven, Grape Arbor and Fragrant Cloves.

This year I am a hummingbird momma, as these 2 little darling babies have hatched successfully!

Maynia Managed

The last official Maynia has begun in my household, and while I hope it will continue for years to come in the stitching community 2021's Maynia carries more weight than in years past... So I am going to make it my largest one yet!

Having finished Sheltering Tree I spent the morning pulling the kitted projects I wanted to start for this Maynia. As fate would have it, there were 12 projects and 24 days left in May! My guidelines for this year are:

1. Twelve new starts with Two consecutive days devoted to each

2. Minimum of 21 stitches must be placed in each project per day (to mark 2021)

Happy Maynia! The Maiden

To Shelter the Storm

Began in 2010 and finished more than a decade later I present A Sheltering Tree.

Stitched on 32ct Belfast Vintage Country French Mocha (One of my favorite fabrics) with Silk'n Colors 173 Mississippi Mud in 5 days.

I placed French knots throughout the pattern, substituting for a full cross when they appeared at the end of a backstitched outshoot to mimic berries.

The center motif mirrors my own backyard, where a hummingbird has laid 2 perfect eggs in one of my magnolia trees.

Maynia Saynia

Maynia has snuck up on me this year, and while cooler heads prevailed last year as I stitched "Saynia" I have no delusions that the same will happen after the haul I amassed this weekend!

With a distracted air I picked up A Sheltering Tree, a WIP from 2010 that had 1 day devoted to it (top branch).

Now 2 days in I am trying not to get distracted by the bounty of kitted projects waiting to be started!

Amuck, Amuck, Amuck

Stashing not Stitching was the theme of the past 2 days as I ran amuck with Nessa of Nessa's Needleminders over the past 2 days!

Barbara Ana dominated my haul with Wicked, Spellville, Frida, Merry (Since...) and Midnight! Merry had a sinister feel so a Krampus conversion seemed perfect to me!

Halloween (tout simplement) and Mes Cravaux L'Aiguilles fuel my foreign fancies

while Inverno in Tazza and Moonlight called closer to home.

Rounding out my haul is A Perfect World.
What better way to describe how my days were spent with a good friend, great food and stores full of shared hobbies!
